Conservation of biodiversity in Trio and Wayana living areas in Suriname

Posted in

The preliminary results of the two-year project "Capacity building of strategic groups for the sustainable use of natural resources and biodiversity conservation in Trio and Wayana living areas" were presented on Tuesday during a workshop at the Courtyard Marriott hotel in Paramaribo, Suriname.

The project was launched in 2015. According to ACT-Suriname program director Minu Parahoe, the results are important for the local communities.

The results of the project will be deposited in a national database administered by Suriname's Foundation for Forest Management and Forest Control (SBB), who will utilize the data to conduct carbon measurements.
